Welcome back to End of the Road, Alaska, where the land ends and the sea begins,
America’s favorite and funniest hometown. Here, in two and a half hours,
are more comic stories from Tom Bodett’s rollicking and affectionate
The End of the Road, an offbeat fictional look at small-town America.

From The Best Sauna Story
…The moon had risen to its full high-beamed luster by the time
our quartet was at the trail head clipping on bindings, sorting out
poles, cinching down ski bands, and stomping around in the cold.
"Before we get started, everybody gather in here for a minute." Emily
flagged everyone toward her, and with genuine affection the four locked
their arms around each other and touched their heads together. "I
just wanted to say for me and Ed, what special friends we all are.
There just isn’t anything that could come between us."….
…And through the trees, the sauna took that opportunity to
burst into flames before their eyes.
There was a wonderful magic moment where four misty friends were silhouetted
by the fire, frozen in time and space – and the wilderness, clad
only in what God saw fit to give them. And then it dawned on them all
at once, "OUR CLOTHES," as they became a blur of white buns
and elbows flying back up the trail.
When you’re naked and wet in the forest two miles from your
car and it’s five above zero, the first thing to go is your sense
of humor….
