Once more America’s most distinctive humorist and storyteller, Tom Bodett,
reacquaints us with old friends and introduces us to new residents of the End
of the Road in two hours of pure entertainment.

From Joe’s Cup
…Joe returned to the galley, sat down at the table for a few
minutes to think this over, and decided to be seasick instead. It wasn’t
a violent sort of seasickness. It was more of a hypnotic state. A head-swimmy
sort of nauseous dream that would last several days and beg for sanity.
But there was to be little sanity on Lars Luger’s boat.
That night, after they anchored up in a protected cove, Joe was helping
Rudy coil some cable out on deck. He was whistling a merry tune to
cover up the fact that he was ill when Lars stormed onto the deck.
"Who’s that whistling on my boat!" He stood glaring
down at Joe, who didn’t need to answer. "There’s four
things you never do on a boat. You never whistle, you never take a
woman on board, you never make pea soup, and you never leave port on
a Friday."
Joe faced his skipper, terrified and mystified, but he found his tongue. "But
today is Friday."
"It is?" Lars’ face softened to puzzle for just an
instant, then snapped back in place. "Sometimes you leave port
on Friday, but never with a woman or pea soup, and you never whistle.
It’s bad luck!"…
